Tuxedos

Where do you go to find tuxedos?

At http://www.jimsformalwear.com/ , you can browse through designs online then find a store near you to rent the tuxedo. You could choose to rent or buy the tuxedo.

We found these rentals to be better quality and more stylish than the rentals at Black Tie in San Francisco's Embarcadero center. Rentals: $109+

Black Tie: located at second floor at the Embarcadero center next to the Bridal Galleria, this shop offers rentals and sales of tuxes. There are not many rentals to choose from with their single circular rack of rentals and the quality of the fabric is stiff. The tuxes for sale are definitely better quality than the rentals and tailored to fit those with a more athletic build with designer tuxes from Hugo Boss, Donna Karan, Valentino, Joseph Abboud. Alex was incredibly helpful there and did not give us any pressure at all to purchase anything. He assigned us a fitting room and brought us different tux ensembles to try. Sales: $300 - $2000 tuxes

You can't try on the dress shirts, but they do allow you to try on a rental dress shirt with the type of collar you are looking for to give you a general idea of what it would look like. Primarily you would be serviced by Michael who handles the retail sales of tuxes. I was very disappointed in his service because during our first visit to look at rentals, he didn't give us the time of day although we made an appointment with him. The difference in treatment between rentals and sales was very clear, however Alex took very good care of us later. We visited again on another day to try on a few items and we were told (not asked) to gather our things and leave the fitting room by Michael. We were very shocked at the ill manner towards us. If you do go to Black Tie, consider yourself very lucky if you have Alex assisting you!

Emporio Armani in Union Square - They carry a limited quantity of tuxedos, usually only one style. Although the prices are a bit hefty, if your groom has a slender body the tuxedo will look like it was custom tailored for him. The price of a tux would be around $1300.
