DIY - Forcing bulbs in vases

A centerpiece idea --

Introduction:
There’s nothing like the sight and smell of beautiful blooms in the dead of winter. Here’s how to grow the fragrant narcissus indoors—and you don’t even need any dirt…

Instructions:
Difficulty: Easy

Things You'll Need:
Bulbs
Glass dish or vase
Pebbles
Water

Steps

Step One:
Buy several bulbs. You’re looking for ones called “Paper white” Narcissus.

Step Two:
Find a glass container or vase. Taller is better, since a higher vase will support stems as they grow. You can use a shallow glass dish and support growing stems, if they need it, with twine or raffia.

Step Three:
Place the bulbs in your chosen container with pebbles or stones around them to stabilize them. Add water until each bulb is submerged half-way. Don’t use tap water, since the chlorine in the water could be bad for your bulbs. Distilled is best.

Step Four:

Put the container in a warm, light spot and watch ‘em grow! Continue to add water as needed. In four short weeks, you’ll have beautiful, fragrant blooms. Inhale, sigh and enjoy. Repeat.

You can use other types of bulbs!

For all your plant and bulb needs.
